Here’s what I came up with.

I took the route down through the trees, across a wide river,
upside a mountain, where no one could see.
The dark of the night like a blanket it falls,
the sounds of the night have a voice all its own.
Darkness it stood there, staring into my soul —
whispering words that were icy and cold.
When morning broke free from the chains of the night
I chose a new route that led towards the light!
Through fields of wild flowers and forests of trees,
across crystal cascades, I finally fell to my knees.
Broken and tired, I gave up the fight,
I needed a Savior to be my lifeline.
I cried out, come save me — I know I can’t win.
Without you beside me, this battle of sin
It will ravage my soul til I’m bitter and old,
I need you to reroute me into Your fold.
Without hesitation, a warmth filled my heart.
Death for my life — he gave me a new start
From a route set towards darkness, He turned me around.
I glory in the cross, in Him now I’m found!
